PILI, Philippines — Computer Science High School of Bicolandia (CSHSB) welcomed Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda during his visit to the school to inspect the implementation of the Free Public Internet Access Program.
The visit highlighted the continued efforts to provide its students and personnel with better access to digital resources and reliable internet connectivity. Secretary Aguda toured the school and engaged with members of the school community to learn how the Free Wi-Fi service supports learning, teaching, communication, and other digital activities.
Also present during the visit was CSHSB School Principal Ms. Marilyn Ligon, who welcomed Secretary Aguda and represented the school community throughout the inspection.
The initiative also carries a meaningful story for CSHSB. The school’s Free Wi-Fi request was initially raised through the efforts of Lance Matthew Rodriguez, a former student leader who submitted a request to DICT Region V for internet connectivity support for the school.
During the visit, a speed test of the Free Wi-Fi recorded a download speed of nearly 50 Mbps, providing the CSHSB community with a stronger and more accessible connection for their digital needs.
More than providing internet access, the initiative reflects CSHSB’s commitment to embracing technology as an essential part of modern education. With improved connectivity, students and teachers can have greater access to online learning materials, digital platforms, research resources, and other opportunities that support education.
The visit of Secretary Aguda marks a significant moment for CSHSB as the school continues to move forward in strengthening its digital learning environment and preparing its students for an increasingly connected world.
